@suetanvil PHP isn't an inherently bad language, though. Sure, it's got some wonkiness, every language does. But its good things more than make up for it IMO.

I will not stand for PHP hate over here!

I don't know PHP and so can't really critique it but nothing that I've heard about it makes me want to learn it either. There are certainly good reasons to use it but I have none of them.

What I love about it is how accessible it is and how simple it makes common things. It's basically supercharged templating; my blog is 90% HTML with only a little PHP sprinkled here and there. I've never seen any other full programming language let you freely sprinkle itself among untemplated output like PHP does. It's pretty special.
